Security is one of those things that tends to feel abstract until it's knocking on your front door. I've spent the better part of a decade trying to decode incidents like those before they ever arrive. Starting with a Bachelor of Science and an Associate's degree in Information Science, a certificate in cybersecurity, becoming a Certified AI Consultant, and adding five years in the industry, I honed my skills in understanding exactly how, when, and where things break.
When I left, I changed who I was doing it for.
A big part of what I do now is talk to people about the reality of AI: what it can actually do, where it falls short, and what you might be accidentally handing over when you use it without thinking. There's a lot of noise out there and not enough honesty, so I'd rather give you the version that's actually useful, even if it's less of the glitz and glamour.
I also coach on all things cybersecurity. Security hygiene, data privacy, the fundamentals that are often skipped because the assumption is that it's being taken care of elsewhere. So, we go through it together: from writing down the processes that live in the walls of your mind, to sitting down for a 1-on-1 to talk through how best to protect data, to building up a baseline of understanding one thing at a time, and figuring out what security looks like for you specifically.
Security only works best when you understand it yourself. It's up to you to make security a guarantee.
